Molecular mechanisms of chromatin assembly.

چکیده
This lecture focuses on chromatin assembly and does not attempt to review the other subject cited with the award, namely the detection of radioisotopes by X-ray film. Methodological aspects of that subject have been reviewed recently (Laskey, 1980) and underlying principles of the methods have been discussed more fully elsewhere, first for fluorography of isotopes which emit weak Pparticles (Laskey & Mills, 1975) and second for detection of prays or high-energy /3-particles by using intensifying screens (Laskey & Mills, 1977).

Roles of Chromatin insulators in gene regulation and diseases
With advances in genetic science, the dynamic structure of eukaryotic genome is considered as basis of gene expression regulation. Long-distance communication between regulatory elements and target promoters is critical and the mechanisms responsible for this connection are just starting to emerge. Chromatin insulators are key determinants of proper gene regulation and precise organization of c...
متن کاملAn Overview of the Epigenetic Modifications of Gene Expression in Tumorigenesis
The five leading causes of cancer-related deaths are lung (1,760,000 deaths), colorectal (862,000 deaths), stomach (783,000 deaths), liver (782,000 deaths), and breast (627,000 deaths) cancers. Epigenetic changes can alter chromatin compaction, leading to the regulation of geneexpression without changing the primary DNA sequence.Epigenetic mechanisms are normally involved incellular processes s...
متن کاملFunctional overlap of microtubule assembly factors in chromatin-promoted spindle assembly.
Distinct pathways from centrosomes and chromatin are thought to contribute in parallel to microtubule nucleation and stabilization during animal cell mitotic spindle assembly, but their full mechanisms are not known. We investigated the function of three proposed nucleation/stabilization factors, TPX2, gamma-tubulin and XMAP215, in chromatin-promoted assembly of anastral spindles in Xenopus lae...
متن کاملI-40: Male Genome Programming, Infertility and Cancer
Background: During male germ cells differentiation, genomewide re-organizations and highly specific programming of the male genome occur. These changes not only include the large-scale meiotic shuffling of genes, taking place in spermatocytes, but also a complete “re-packaging” of the male genome in post meiotic cells, leading to a highly compacted nucleo-protamine structure in the mature sperm...
متن کاملMolecular mechanisms underlying pig oocyte maturation and fertilization.
Since the pig is not only an important farm animal, but also a model animal for biomedical applications, the development of reproductive technologies in this species has been very important. In vitro oocyte maturation and fertilization (IVM-IVF) are basic techniques for a number of oocyte- or embryo-related technologies. The practical aspects for pig oocyte IVM-IVF have been reviewed, while the...
